Via Africa’s Chris Waller-trained daughter Autumn Glow was going for seven out of seven on Saturday in the Gr 1 A$1.5 million Gr1 Epsom Handicap and carrying 54,5kg she never looked in danger of defeat except for a bit of a worrying moment on the turn.
Once in the straight she picked up the bit again and won with authority.
Via Africa was an Andre Hauptfleisch-homebred Var filly trained by Duncan Howells.
She was not big but was superbly athletic and would often blitz fields.
She won the Gr 1 SA Fillies twice and won the Gr 1 Cape Flying Championship once, beating the champion What A Winter, and she was named Equus Champion Sprinter.
