Grand Empire returns to the winner’s enclosure after becoming Vercingetorix’s 15th Gr 1 winner (JC Photos)
Grand Empire’s win in the Gr 1 HKJC World Pool SA Classic on Saturday gave the phenomenal stallion Vercingetorix his 15th individual Gr 1 winner and his 68th stakes winner.
Vercingetorix is out to break his own SA record set last season of 23 stakes winners in a season and he is on track as he already has 14 stakes winners this season.
His 23 stakes winners last season won 33 stakes races between them and his 14 stakes winners this year have won 18 stakes races between them.
Vercingetorix only had one lot on the recent BSA Cape Yearling Sale and it was the Sale topper at R900,000.
The champion stallion has 23 lots on the Race Coast Premier Yearling Sale this Friday and Saturday.
