Klawervlei’s Vercingetorix filly out of the Captain Al speedster Mana Mou fetched R750,000 at the Cape Racing Sales Ready To Run and 2yo Unbroken Sale at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.
She was knocked down to Justin Vermaak on behalf of stalwart owner Laurence Wernars.
Mana Mou was a five-time winning Grade 3-winning sprinter who was a half-sister to Mythical Flight (Jet Master).
Mythical Flight won his first seven races, including the Grade 1 Cape Flying Championship and the Grade 1 Computaform Sprint.
In the latter race he recorded the fastest 1000m time in SA history, 54,96 seconds, and the only faster time since then, 54,55 seconds by Blizzard Belle at Fairview, was wind assisted.
The Vercingetorix filly sold on Saturday has the same cross, Vercingetorix X Captain Al, as the Klawervlei Stud-bred Grade 1-winning sprinter filly Vernichey.
Brett Crawford signed for the highest price lot on the sale, Lot 48, who went for R1,1 million.
However, this was actually a buy back as he himself consigned the horse under Crawford racing.
The colt is by Coolmore stallion No Nay Never, who has produced 40 stakes winners, including the current four-time Group 1 winner in the UK, Alcohol Free.
Crawford’s colt is out of an Australian-bred full-sister to three-times Grade 1-winning sprinter Alboran Sea.
Crawford must have believed he was to valuable to let go of for that price and bought him back.
John Koster of Klawervlei Stud praised Cape Racing Sales for a successful first Sale, which he described as a “solid” sale.
