Splicethemainbrace cruises to victory in the Listed East Cape SA Nursery (Pauline Herman Photography)

The Alan Greeff-trained Varsfontein Stud-bred Master Of My Fate filly Splicethemainbrace landed a Nursery double at Fairview on Friday and this ASSM Syndicate owned two-year-old is now unbeaten in four starts.

She won the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery on March 15 over 1200m on the turf by a head from the Gavin Smith-trained Heavenly Blue filly Happy Holly and on Friday, receiving a 2,5kg gender allowance, won the Listed East Cape Nursery by a cosy 1,50 lengths from the Gavin Smith-trained dead-heaters KingDundee (The United States) and Silvonian.

Richard Fourie has ridden Splicethemainbrace in all of  her starts.

She has a devstating turn of foot and today he bided his time off the pace before delivering her through a gap in the middle.

She quickly put the race to bed.

Fourie described her as a “skinny little whippet”, which enabled him to squeeze through the gap, but added she was a filly with a huge heart.

It will be interesting to see whether she is targeted at the Gr 1 Allan Robertson Championship over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on June 1.

Greeff, Fourie and ASSM also won the other high class race on the day, a Pinnacle Stakes event over 1200m, with the three-year-old Ascot Stud-bred Heavenly Blue filly Three Rocks.

The 109-rated filly was having her tenth start and recorded her seventh victory.

The meeting was delayed after apprentice Trent Mayhew fell in the pull-up area after the third race, where he had run an 8,25 length second on Zietsman Oosthuizen’s Swiss Walt.

The Sporting Post wrote an article on Fourie delivering an ultimatum to East Cape Racing to address this problem, because a number of jockeys have recently fallen after the finish line on the Fairview turf course.
