Ryan Munger’s first ever ride in Canada back on May 6 yielded a win on the John Mattine-trained Silent Miracle.
He has been kept aboard the son of Silent Name and will thus be one of the riders in Sunday’s Can$1 Million King’s Plate over a mile-and-a-quarter on the Woodbine tapeta.
Silent Miracle has drawn nicely in barrier position 9 in the full 17 horse field.
The King’s Plate is the oldest continuously run race in North America and form’s the first leg of the Canadian Triple Crown.

TORONTO, August 16, 2023 – Seventeen sophomores, including Woodbine Oaks Presented by Budweiser winner Elysian Field, and Plate Trial victor Paramount Prince, both trained by dual hall of famer Mark Casse, will contest the $1 million King’s Plate, first leg of the OLG Canadian Triple Crown, highlighting an outstanding stakes-filled Sunday card of racing at Woodbine.
