The Candice Bass-trained What A Winter gelding Made In Chelsea was an effortless winner of the first race at Hollywoodbets Durbanville today and he this became the latest winner out of the strong formline of Rich Man’s World, whom he finished 6,75 lengths behind on debut over 1000m.
Made In Chelsea was beaten 5,25 lengths in her second start over 1200m, but that had a much better look to it when the winner Tag And Release (Canford Cliffs) easily won the Gr 3 Winter Nursery next time out.
Made In Chelsea ran well below par in his final start as a two-year-old, finishing last in a 1400m event at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, but that was chiefly due to him losing many lengths at the start.
On Wednesday he was coming back from gelding and a break of close to four months.
However, it seemed he would not mind the step down in trip to 1000m on form evidence.
Sean Veale rode a confident race. He sat on him from the off and he was shuffled back, meaning he turned for home closer to the back than the front in the ten horse field.
However, he then moved through the field effortlessly and drew away to win as he liked by 2,50 lengths.
He is out of an Irish-bred So You Think mare so should go further and he looks like one to follow.
Candice confirmed it was more due to the weakness of the field than a suitability to the trip hat she had entered him in the 1000m race.
She believed him to be a nice horse who would go over ground.
He should give owners Marsh Shirtliff, Roberta Jansch and Guy Shirtliff plenty of fun.
