Port Louis wins effortlessly at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Tuesday (Wayne Marks).

The Brett Crawford-trained Gimmethegreenlight gelding Port Louis gave the Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas form a boost yesterday (Tuesday) at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth when easily winning a Pinnacle Stakes event over 1600m.

The 105 merit-rated horse was carrying 54kg against some useful older horses and Keagan de Melo did not resort to the stick at all when coaxing him forward from the 500m mark, having sat near the back in the eight horse field.

Port Louis built up into top gear under the hands and swept past the field in effortless style and De Melo just gave him one backhander closer to home to keep his mind on the job.

He won by a cosy 1,25 lengths from stablemate Future Prince with Tout A Fair, Fifty Fiver and Look For Hounds next best.

Port Louis finished a 4,05 length fourth to Charles Dickens in the Grade 3 Cape Classic, a 2,80 length fourth to Cousin Casey in the Grade 2 Cape Punters Cup over 1600m and an 11,65 length tenth in the Cape Guineas.

The ease of his win on Tuesday gives some perspective into how good Charles Dickens is.
