Turffontein Inside stages a nine race meeting on Saturday and the Pick 6 legs include two Mr 96 handicaps.
The first of the Mr 96s is an open event over 1600m and is very open in nature too, to the extent that it is suggested the field be included in the Pick 6. Command Pilot could be a sneaker here as he faced good sorts in his last two and now has his third run after a layoff from a good draw. Professor Snape has been disappointing but a drop in trip from a fair draw might help. La Moohal, Tamarisk Tree and Whispers Of War make appeal on form but all have tricky draws. We Are The Logans ran third in the Gr 1 Premier’s Champion Stakes as a two-year-old so has class. In his recent comeback he ran a 6,75 length last of six over 1600m. However, the winner was the progressive Joker Man and that was We Are The Logans’ first run for six months. Furthermore, he was dropped four points after the run and has a 4kg claimer up. He should have come on from that last run and has a plum draw of two. Royal Guide has plenty of class but returns from a layoff of close to eight months, although he does have pole position over a suitable trip. Trident King was ahead of We Are The Logans last time and has a good draw. Paisley Park is capable but still has to prove he stays 1600m.
The second of the MR 96s is for fillies and mares and four-year-old On The Horizon has won four of her seven starts and now has her third run after a layoff. She can show what she is all about here in this second try at 1800m. The Judpot filly only just failed in her first attempt at 1800m and has a fair draw of four out of eight here. She has a lot of untapped potential and now has her third run after a layoff. She has a fair draw over a step up in trip which should suit. Ceuta, who is by Gimmethegreenlight out of Gr 1 winner Europa Point, has to be included as she won her maiden by a wide margin second time out and just failed first time out the maidens over this 1450m. Her dam won two Gr 1s including the Champions Challenge over 2000m, so Ceuta should relish the step up in trip on pedigree. Littlemarysunshine is a talented sort who has won over this trip before. She is the sort who needs cover and from pole position she should be running on from a handy position if covered up early.
In the fifth race Shinto Shrine looks to be a banker. He will appreciate the step up in trip and this hard knocker has a plum draw.
In the seventh race a chance is taken bankering Chocolate Soldier. He has exceptional pace and on this tight course might be difficult to catch from pole position. King Of Kildare and Pendragon could pick up the pieces if he fails and can be included by the risk averse.
In the fourth race, a Maiden Plate over 1600m, Easy On Me has run two fair races and will relish the step up in trip, although he does have a tricky draw of six. Silver Parasol has shown signs of ability and should enjoy the step up in trip, but he does have a tough draw and he has to bounce back from a poor run. He was probably too handy in the latter  race in which the leader went too quickly. Streisand showed vast improvement last time when stepped up to 1450m and can improve again. Messalina was a major disappointment last time in a workriders race but is capable of better. Gloria Mundi has shown enough to be a contender here. Ruler Of Justice was stepped up to 1450m last time and was well clear of Silver Parasol so can also be included.
In the last race Say It Roses, Ariel’s Jet and Pretty In Pearls should fight it out. Say It With Roses ran well first time out the maidens and jumps from the same draw over the same course and distance. Her maiden win was also over this trip. Ariel’s Jet is knocking on the door and is distance suited but has a tricky draw. Pretty In Pearls went close over 1600m last time and well also enjoy this trip and has a plum draw.
In the first leg of the bipot Kamensky and One Party are the stand outs on form.
In the first leg of the PA over 1450m Willowwild has run two fine sprints and should relish the step up in trip so can be bankered, although she does have a tricky draw of six out of ten.
