Warwick Render of Bush Hill Stud has been pleased with the selling record of resident stallion New Predator’s first crop and is now looking forward to his first runners.

At the BSA National Yearling Sales the Australian-bred New Approach stallion had nine lots and eight were sold for an aggregate of R1,325,000 with an average of R165,625.

At the BSA KZN Yearling Sale he had ten lots  and nine were sold for an aggregate of R660,000 for an everage of R73,333.

At the recent BSA August Sale he had eleven lots and ten were sold for an aggregate of R500,000 and average of R50,000.

However, Render said the most pleasing aspect was that “his progeny had been bought by a wide range of different trainers.”

This will provide him with every chance of getting off to a good start.

New Predator, trained by Johan Janse van Vuuren and owned by Laurence Wernars, won the Grade 2 Drill Hall Stakes as a three-year-old and won the Grade 2 Charity Mile as a four-year-old.

He had three Grade 1 third place finishes from 1200m up to 1600m and had two Grade 2 runner up finishes and a Grade 2 third.

New Predator is out of Fastnet Rock mare Head Over Heels, who was a half-sister to multiple Listed winner Presently (Unbridled’s Song).

New Predator is from the family of Grade 1 winners Set Square (Reset) and Testifiable (Testa Rossa).
