South African jockey Mpumelelo Mjoka was victorious on the Kevin Thomas Coleman-trained Excelebration mare Red Vermillion in a 19 runner handicap over one mile and five furlongs at Navan on Saturday.

The eight-year-old won by three lengths despite starting odds of 11/1.

Mjoka had 83 winners in SA.

he went to Ireland to seek new opportunities and has learnt a lot due to the “quite different racing.”

Mpumelelo won a race in France when selected to represent South Africa in a Longines Future Racing Stars event.

South African Jockeys Academy riding master and recruitment officer Paddy Wynne was instrumental in setting up Mjoka in the Kevin Coleman yard. 

Mpume has had two wins in 13 rides to date at a strike rate of 15%.
