A 2020-born Frankel gelding whom Mike de Kock found in Ireland has won for a fourth time in his career and a third time for the Robbie Griffiths and Matthew de Kock yard in Australia.
This Moyglare Stud-bred geldng was originally trained by Dermot Weld in Ireland and he had seven runs there for one win.
He had a spell of close to ten months when moved over to Australia to be trained by Robbie Griffiths and Matthew de Kock and made his debut for the yard on May 5 this year.
He finished second in that race over 1411m at Sale, then won over 1600m at Pakenham on May 16, won over 1500m at Sandown-Hillside on June 19 and finished second over 1700m at Caulfield on July 13.
He was then gelded and returned after a spell of three months and seven days at Moe today over 1600m.
Nation’s Call led under Jye McNeil in testing going and after being headed in the straight he fought back to get up by 0,3 lengths.
His earnings in Australia are now AUD $107,600 and the four-year-old looks to have a lot more racing in him.
Mike is a part-owner as are South Africans Larry Nestadt and Wayne Aldridge.
The horse is looking to be a handicapper at present and is being aimed at one of the lesser races on Melbourne Cup day.
Time will tell whether he can make it in Group company, but he certainly looks to have been a worthwhile purchase.
