It is the birthday of trainer Lunga Gila but there might not be time for celebrations.

The Lunga Gila Racing Stables moved from Nelson Mandela Bay to Cape Town at the start of the year and it is busy times at the new stable.

“Very busy but that is the way I like it,” Gila said on Friday.

“I have 20 horses at the moment and more is expected to arrive over the weekend. We are doing vet checks on all of them today before I get stuck in. I can’t wait,” he said.

Gila says he would probably step out his first runners since he relocated in two to three weeks.

And birthday celebrations?

“Maybe, maybe I will celebrate with a nice dinner tonight but you know me, it is the horses first.”
