Lucky Lad was raised three points for his Gr 1 Golden Horse Sprint win to 124 and October Morn was raised four points to 119 for her Gr 1 SA Fillies Sprint win.
Golden Horse Sprint (Handicap) (Grade 1)
LUCKY LAD has had his merit rating raised from 121 to 124 after he captured the Grade 1 Golden Horse Sprint (handicap) over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Saturday 1 June. The Handicappers were of the unanimous view that the versatile 2nd finisher AT MY COMMAND made for the most suitable line horse here, which leaves him unchanged on a mark of 119.
3rd placed I AM GIANT, was lifted from 107 to 118. I AM GIANT was 11 points under sufferance in this event as the bottom weights for this Handicap were raised to 54kg in accordance with the race conditions. CRUISE CONTROL, who was 1 point under sufferance, was raised from 117 to 118 and SUN BLUSHED was raised to 116 from 113, he was 5 points under sufferance but finished 2 points behind the line horse hence his increase of 3 points.
Two horses received drops to their ratings, DYCE was dropped 2 points from 130 to 128 and PRAY FOR RAIN was dropped 1 point from 114 to 113.
SA Fillies Sprint (Grade 1)
OCTOBER MORN was raised to a mark of 119 following her success in the Grade 1 SA Fillies Sprint for fillies and mares over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Saturday.
TIME FO ORCHIDS was deemed to make for the ideal line horse when assessing this event, leaving her unaltered on a rating of 110. Narrowly beaten runner-up MRS BROWNING, was raised from 113 to 118 while 3rd placed WINTER GREETING received a 3-point increase from 108 to 111.
SHANTASTIC, who finished 0.10 lengths behind the 110 rated TIME FO ORCHIDS was raised from 108 to 109. SHIPHOLIA was raised to a rating of 102 so that she is not rated lower than the 102 rated ELEGANT ICE who she beat here at weight for age terms.
There were rating drops for four horses. KWINTA’S LIGHT dropped slightly from 110 to 109, BALTIC SECRET dropped from 104 to 101, WINTER PEARL was dropped to 109 from 112 and lastly REEFWAY received a 2-point drop from 98 to 96.
