Mr Fayez after winning at Lingfield on Thursday (Catch Us If You Can Racing Facebook Page)

The Dylan Cunha-trained Silver Sword was balloted out of The Gold Gates Stakes, which will be run at the Royal Ascot meeting tomorrow.

However, Cunha and the booked jockey Greg Cheyne put that disappointment behind them by winning a Class 6 Handicao over five furlongs with the yard pet, Mr Fayez.

Mr Fayez is the “yard pony and lead horse”.

He was the horse that got the Cunha yard going after being bought for 2,000 pounds.

“Another win but this was the most special one,” said Cunha on his busy social media pages. “He is everyone’s favourite, we love you Fayezie.”

The five-year-old Irish-bred Ajaya gelding produced a strong late run after being outpaced early.

Cunha has now had 8 wins in all in the UK, but seven of them have been this season and he is going along this term at a fine strike rate of 24%.

Cheyne’s strike rate is even higher, his four wins coming at 29%.
