Justin Snaith has five runners in this year’s Hollywoodbets Durban July.

The Snaith’s legendary dual July winner Do It Again will make history by becoming the first horse to run in the big race six times. He will also be out to win the race for a record third time. He puts in the best July gallop every year, gliding down the straight he knows so well, and this year was no different. Gavin Lerena is in fine form and the big horse will be dangerous carrying 57kg.

Without Question is the most fancied of the Snaith runners. Third in both the Gr 1 Splashout Cape Derby and Gr 1 Daily News 2000, he won the Gr 3 WSB Variety Club Mile and is improving all the time. Stable first choice rider Richard Fourie has chosen to ride him.

Pacaya is fulfilling the promise he showed as a three-year-old and comes off a fine win in the Gr 2 WSB 1900 where he gave the HDJ second favourite Winchester Mansion 2kg and a beating. Talented Grant van Niekerk rides him.

Pomp And Power is dangerous in every race he runs in no matter the class, because if he is able to keep his temperamental issues at bay he can match it with the best. Twice Hollywoodbets Durban July-winning jockey Bernard Fayd’Herbe flies in from Mauritius to ride him.

The least fancied of the Snaith runners is Silver Darling, who is also the least fancied of the five Drakenstein Stud homebreds in the race.

This former Gr 1 Woolavington 2000 winner, who will be ridden by JP van der Merwe, is not a front-running type like Silvano’s Pride, who ensured a good pace when the Snaiths last won the July in 2020.

However, the question has been asked whether she might attempt to ensure a good pace.
