Gavin van Zyl was the first recipient of the R10,000 bonus which goes to the winning trainer of any visiting horse this season.
His Vercingetorix colt Quandary earned him the cheque with an easy win in a Maiden Plate over 1200m on Saturday.
The many Cape Racing incentives include a R50,000 bonus to a visiting trainer who wins a “Festival” (Cape Summer Festival Of Racing) event and Van Zyl will be hoping Quandary, and others, can step up to the plate.
