The Candice Bass-Robinson-trained Potala Palace filly Red Palace followed up on her 5,25 length maiden win over 1600m by winning in effortless fashion over the same Hollywoodbets Durbanville 1600m course and distance on Monday.
She raced off an 85 merit rating in the class 4 handicap and could have won by ten lengths instead of the official 3,50 lengths.
Candice said today about her being a classic prospect, “I hope so. She was impressive, but it is obviously quite a step up still.”
She said she would avoid the Gr 2 Western Cape Fillies Championship, because she did not want to put her back over 1400m and would instead find another race for her before going for the Gr 1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas on December 2.
On Monday Aldo Domeyer took her to the front from draw 8 out of ten and she set what was probably a faster gallop pace than it looked because she looks to have a good natural cruising speed.
This became evident in the straight when she pulled further and further clear despite just being held together and then ridden with the hands at the 200m mark.
When Domeyer looked around to discover he was in another parish just before the 100m mark he knew he would be able to ease her down and he began doing so shortly after passing the 50m mark.
It was her fifth career run and she looks set to be a classic campaigner.
Her half-brother by Captain Of All is on the Cape Racing Sales Ready To Run and 2Yo Unbroken Sale at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Sunday.
