The Glen Kotzen yard won both the Grade 2 juvenile features on ‘July’ day last weekend and FEELING GROOVY could continue the form in the first. She has been coming along in a steady fashion but knows the track and may relish the longer trip. Watch out for ROY’S T’S who at first glance looks to have no form. But she raced in features so far and has drawn well over a distance that looks sure to suit. BRIGHT STAR made good improvement in her second start but this looks the right distance and she can show what she is truely made off here. However she has drawn wide. First timers to watch here.

Many with scope for improvement but WICCAN WARRIOR was tried in the Listed Gatecrasher Stakes and showed talent. The winner of that race, Cousin Casey, went on to win a Grade 2. WICCAN WARRIOR has secured a plum draw and could be hard to beat. ASPECT showed ability on his sprint debut at this venue. He could come on nicely but was quite green in that first start. EQUESTRIAN AFFAIR improved in his second Highveld outing and the well-bred Mike de Kock inmate was given time off to mature. FLEET COMMANDER made good progress on his debut on the poly. He’s another who can improve.

GIMME’S LADDIE put in a positive showing on debut even though jumping slowly and coughing. He should know what is about now and could enjoy the turf even more. There are first-timers to consider so follow the betting closely. Rafeef colt BLACK CHERRY could be the one on pedigree. Ignore GALAXION’s last run as he showed nothing over 1600m on the poly. His penultimate was decent and he now tries blinkers. ULTIMATE JEWEL could also appreciate the shorter trip as she shows good pace but tires over further. FORGOTTEN TIME, AMERICAN DREAM and LAZY GUY can fight for prizes.

WINTER PEARL was a promising second to high-class sprinter Bard Of Avon and has drawn well on local debut. He has now been gelded and looks a lot better than his second start. However, he runs after quite a long break. UNITED PRINCE was a bit disappointing last time but he has not been far off decent company and the fitting of blinkers and the 1000m trip could do the trick. Past these it is open. DONQUERARI showed good pace, only tiring late in his second outing. It was his first run after a rest and he has drawn well this time. NDAKA, STANLEY PARK and VIHAAN’S GREY can improve.

Not a lot of form to go on in terms of the course and distance and the pace could be the deciding factor. If it turns into a sprint TAKE TO WAR could get the job done based on his form in the Western Cape. He may also have the required stamina if judged on his pedigree. Highveld filly SPECIAL CHARM finds herself best in at the weights on local debut. She was a good second in her last local start and can go one better against these. BRAVE VOYAGER is another experimenting over the marathon trip. He could be the one to lead them to the wire if allowed to. More can threaten.

Two runners come in with just 48kg carded to carry – TWICE GOLDEN and DEEP GLOBAL. The pair could fight it out. The former has disappointed of late but has dropped in ratings and is more than capable of winning a race like this. However, he is racing after a rest. DEEP GLOBAL seems to reserve his best for the Greyville poly but has matured and could be looking for further. IN THE SUMMERTIME impressed when given distance last time. He beat a subsequent easy winner, easily. SPACE NEWS improved last time and has done well this course-and-distance. HEY BILL deserves a mention in this one.

GOOD QUEEN BESS came back to what she was missing – sprinting. She impressed beating colts and can follow up against her own sex. AREA FIFTY ONE ran a fair race in a feature over this track and trip and is best forgiven her last two over further. The blinkers are back on and she rates the value option. KEEP THE LIGHTS ON and HAWKER TYPHOON have also shown class and raced with some of the best around and need to be considered. VIVID JET was unlucky a few starts back and could be rewarded as she has won at this course. SLALOM QUEEN and LADY CATHERINE need to be respected as well.

If LIVE MY LIFE shows up ready after a 462-day rest she could show her field how it is done. She has obvious potential but being lightly raced, could have her share of problems. SIR POM has been dropping in ratings and could be ready for a decent performance. He has drawn well. IRON BARK won a nice race before a rest and if in the same mood could be hard to deal with. He has drawn toward the outside along with IRONTAIL who is also capable but a bit hard to follow. HAPPY WANDERER looks ready to win before being rested. He could come out firing.

The last is tough, best to go wide in exotic bets. MAGIC IN MOTION hit her groove when tried over this distance on the poly at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. If not minding the switch she could repeat. INDIGO FIELDS seems to run her best races on the poly but she came from off the pace last time and having matured could improve on her form. MISS MAGICIAN gets a bit of help from an apprentice claim and could get in the fight. DIAMOND GIRL is holding form well and has drawn best so should be right there. RIDE THE LIGHTNING is one from one this track and trip.
