1 11H30 – Hollywood Foundation Work Riders’ Maiden Plate

Good quality workriders’ event. GIMME’S LADDIE is overdue and rates the one to beat having found only an unexposed rival too good last time over this track and trip. BLACK EGRET is closely matched on that form so likely to pose a threat. RAINBOW COLOURS finished 2nd on debut over this course and distance, so ought to make his presence felt with improvement likely. AUSSENKEHR has a bit to find on that form but shouldn’t be far off. WYLIE RILEY could get into the picture too.

Top Tip: GIMME’S LADDIE (11)
Watch out for: BLACK EGRET (7)

2 12H05 – Hollywoodbets Summer Coronation Plate (Fillies) (2yo)
MISS HANNIGAN and RIPPLE EFFECT could do no more than win on debut and ought to have improved for the experience, so should have more to offer. The former is 3kg worse off with THE CHARLESTON who, with expected improvement, could turn the tables. Well-bred newcomers AMONG THE CLOUDS and ARTICUNO are worth a market check and best kept safe given their connections. WINTER CLOUD, GOLDEN PACIFIC and ONI SAN are others to note on debut. Watch the betting and follow the market movers!

Top Tip: MISS HANNIGAN (1)
Watch out for: RIPPLE EFFECT (16)

3 12H40 – Hollywoodbets Commonwealth Plate (2yo)
Good race. ICY BLAST, SPEEDING BULLET and MANCHESTER FIGHTER finished in that order on debut behind Gimmelightning and renew rivalry on identical terms. They ought to improve with experience and should be competitive. SPIRIT’S UNITE and JEWEL CAT finished hot on their heels and will also be wiser to the task so could make their presence felt. It is interesting to note EASY MONEY and GOLDEN TATJANA line up against the boys and not in the fillies’ race. They must be respected given positive trainer comments and a 2.5kg sex allowance – watch the betting. Keep an eye on newcomer WILLIAM WEST.

Top Tip: SPEEDING BULLET (7)
Watch out for: ICY BLAST (8)

4 13H20 – Sporting Post Maiden Plate (F & M)
Tricky start to the R1-million Pick 6 carryover with a likely pool of R6 million, so go as wide as the budget allows. MISTY CLIFFS and GLOBAL SONGSTRESS arrive in good form and wouldn’t be winning out of turn after several close-up finishes, so must be included. Both GREAT CAT and SPRING KISS are likely improvers after pleasing introductions and are best kept safe with that experience under their belts. JAZZ DIVA wasn’t beaten far over track and trip in just her second start, and with further improvement could make it third time lucky. Newcomers CALIFORNIA DREAMIN and MY FLOWER FATE are worth keeping an eye on in the market.

Top Tip: JAZZ DIVA (11)
Watch out for: GLOBAL SONGSTRESS (5)

5 13H55 – HeartFM Fm 74 Handicap (F & M)
JAZZBELLA and ROYAL INVITATION improved to open their accounts over track and trip last time. They have more to do at this level but are open to further progress so could get into the picture. RAISING QUINN, ENCHANTED CREEK and CALL IT FATE have the form and experience to make their presence felt but could be vulnerable to less-exposed rivals. BROADWAY GIRL has found her niche over 1600m and could improve to keep her unbeaten record over this trip intact. DESERT ROSE ought to pose a threat after an eye-catching last start (1400m). PRICELESS and CATTALEYA may also enjoy going the extra. Tricky!

Top Tip: BROADWAY GIRL (7)
Watch out for: DESERT ROSE (11)

6 14H30 – Hollywoodbets Cape Town Street Parade Classified Stakes
Wide open. JURY DUTY won a similar race over track and trip last time and is weighted to confirm her superiority over re-opposing WORDSWORTH, GEORGIE GEORGE and SUPERIOR LEADER who renew rivalry on identical terms. The latter put in an improved display at a higher level last time and should be competitive off a reduced mark but it is probably worth noting that jockey Grant van Niekerk opts for returning stablemate AXL instead, and it could pay to follow his progress. SHE’S MY CAPTAIN, Highveld raider IN THE ETHER and WYLIE JACK have earning potential, while KING MO may improve as a gelding.

Top Tip: WORDSWORTH (12)
Watch out for: JURY DUTY (13)

7 15H05 – Winning Form Mr 92 Handicap
Good race. LOVE IN WINTER was hard-pressed to win last time (1100m) and preserve his unblemished record. He’s lightly raced and open to considerable improvement, so probably better than rated and it could pay to follow his progress back at this trip over which he impressed in 2 earlier starts. KZN raider LUNARCAM renews rivalry on 3kg better terms (for 3.20 lengths) so should make his presence felt. RED IMPACT will enjoy a return to this trip and could stake a claim too, while a hot pace is likely to suit SUN DAZED who will be gaining late. ELUSIVE TRADER and ROD THE MOD can earn minor money.

Top Tip: LUNARCAM (2)
Watch out for: LOVE IN WINTER (5)

8 15H40 – Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas (Grade 1) (3yo)
A star-studded line-up and highly anticipated Guineas renewal. Unbeaten CHARLES DICKENS is headed for the top – each win better than the last. He made light work of useful rivals leading-up to this race and such was the manner of the win that he is almost impossible to oppose. Champion 2yo last season COUSIN CASEY also impressed on his reappearance/3yo debut and would’ve tightened up since, so is likely to pose the biggest threat. On that form, stablemates AT MY COMMAND, PORT LOUIS and LE MORNE could have a say. SHOEMAKER appears best of the JHB brigade ahead of UNION SQUARE and ANFIELDS ROCKET.

Top Tip: CHARLES DICKENS (11)
Watch out for: COUSIN CASEY (14)

9 16H15 – Ridgemont Highlands Peninsula Handicap (Grade 2)
Good race featuring a few with Grade 1 aspirations, none more so than AIRWAYS LAW last seen finishing 6th in the Durban July. Unlikely to be fully tuned on his return, his progress is worth monitoring. SOMERSET MAUGHAM and SILVANO’S TIMER are closely matched – both ought to be competitive, though preference is for the former from a better draw and given the weight turnaround. Stablemates FUTURE PRINCE and WINCHESTER MANSION have had good preps going into this and will enjoy the distance, so can make their presence felt. Last-start scorers HAN SOLO and IMILENZEYOKUDUDUMA have claims too.

Top Tip: HAN SOLO (4)

Watch out for: SOMERSET MAUGHAM (10)

10 16H50 – Hollywoodbets Victress Stakes (Grade 3) (4yo+) (F & M)
A small but quality field. CHANSONETTE has been costly to follow this term but was 2nd in a Grade 1 over this track and trip last term, and ought to play a leading role given the favourable conditions of the race. MARINA was returning from a break when finishing ahead of that rival last time. She is also slightly better off at the weights which should give her the edge. SILVER DARLING is held on that form but is likely to strip fitter for that run so could make her presence felt.

Top Tip: MARINA (4)

Watch out for: CHANSONETTE (5)

11 17H20 – Hollywoodbets Bright Future Mr 90 Handicap
A trappy handicap to put the lid on a quality day’s racing. RUNAWAY SONG overcame the widest draw to win going away over 1400m on the winter course last time and, on the evidence of that display, is likely be competitive once more stepped up in trip and switched to the summer course. However, he concedes 9kg to progressive stablemate FUTURE SWING which could give the latter the edge. SUGAR MOUNTAIN is consistent at this level and on current form ought to play a role in the finish. TRIPLE TIME and GRINKOV should fare better dropped in class, so are respected. NORTHERN SONG has earning potential.

Top Tip: RUNAWAY SONG (4)
Watch out for: SUGAR MOUNTAIN (5)
