Heath House pulls off a fine win over 1000m at the Vaal (JC Photos)
The lightning fast Tony Peter-trained two-year-old gelding Heath House (Erupt) proved himself more than just a tearaway when keeping the challengers at bay today (Thursday) in a handicap over 1000m at the Vaal and landing the spoils by 2,20 lengths, despite carrying topweight of 62,5kg.
The 1,5kg claim of Blaine Marx-Jacobson alleviated the welter burden to some extent.
Heath Hose started 11/10 favourite and was soon out on his own in front.
He stuck to his station towards the inside having jumped from draw four which was not viewed as the favourable side on the day.
The outside horses looked threatening as the business end was reached, but Heath House kept going in admirable fashion.
It was a fine feat for a two-year-old to carry such a weight to victory over some decent older horses.
He could be an interesting feature race prospect next season with the Gr 1 Computaform Sprint being an obvious long term target for him.
Heath House has won four out of five and his only defeat was when being tried over further than 1000m and finishing a 2,30 length third over 1160m in the 4Racing SA Sales Cup.
