Amelia’s Legacy is the latest runner of Dynasty broodmare Hashtagyolo and she looks to have plenty of potential (Candiese Lenferna Photography)
The most expensive yearling Bluesky Thoroughbreds ever purchased was the Dynasty filly Hastagyolo, whom they paid R1.1 million for in 2016, but Bruce le Roux said this week it had been “hundred percent” a worthwhile purchase in the long run.
Hashtagyolo was full of ability on the racecourse and won her first three starts, including beating older horses by a comfortable two lengths in the Gr 3 Flamboyant Stakes over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
She then had issues and was destined to only have three more starts.
She was not disgraced against top opposition in any of those starts.
Hastagyolo’s first foal was a colt by Gimmethegreenlight who went for R1.2 million at the sales and since then she has produced two Vercingeorix fillies that Bluesky have raced themselves.
The latter of that pair, the Frikkie Greyling-trained Amelia’s Legacy, looks highly promising. She was green on debut but ran on late to be beaten 5,20 lengths into third by Showgirl on September 21 at Hollywoodbets Scottsville.
Showgirl franked that form this week when beating the boys by 2,50 lengths off a 74 merit rating in a C Stakes event over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.
However, the form did not need franking because on October 31 Amelia’s Legacy had run in a maiden over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville and coming from off the pace she stormed to a four length victory under Serino Moodley.
She might go on to do what her mother could have done on the racecourse had she had the chance.
Amelia’s Legacy looks likely to bolster Hashtagyolo’s value.
Hashtagyolo’s first foal, the R1.2 million purchase, is the Sean Tarry-trained To The Rescue.
He has been a touch disappointing, after showing signs early on he would progress significantly as he got older and as he went over more ground.
However, he has at least won three times, from 1800m to 2400m, and could still develop into a useful stayer, despite now being a five-year-old.
Hashtagyolo now has a One World colt on the ground and he could attract some interest at the sales in a couple of years time.
Hashtagyolo is now on her way to be covered by Gimmethegreenlight.
Hashtagyolo’s pedigree has the potential to become exponentially more valuable, because her Jallad dam is a half-sister to Master Of My Fate (Jet Master) and to Justthewayyouare (Fort Wood).
Master Of My Fate is one of the best sires in the country and has two very exciting three-year-old prospects this season, the respective Gr 1 winners Jan van Goyen and Golden Palm.
Justthewayyouare is the dam of stallion Malmoos (Captain Al).
Furthermore, the family also includes the promising sire Erik The Red (Captain Al).
With so many prominent stallions in her pedigree, Hashtagyolo’s progeny have the potential to become hot property.
Things are going well for Bluesky Throughbreds in more ways than one.
On Saturday they scored a feature double at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth as breeders of Gr 3 Cape Mile winner Legal Counsel and as breeders of Listed Laisserfaire Stakes winner Disting.
Their three resident stallions, Chimichuri Run (Trippi), Eden Roc (Var) and Double Superlative (Twice Over) have also been covering nicely.
