God’s Window winning on debut in the familiar Drakenstein colours (Sky Sports)
The Gaynor Rupert homebred God’s Window is avoiding the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket next week and will instead be going for the Gr 2 Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Dante Stakes over 1 mile 2 furlongs and 56 yards at York on May 16.
The Dante is a traditional pointer for the Epsom Derby and is named after the last Northern England-based horse to ever win the Derby (1945).
God’s Window, a Dubawi colt out of a Nathaniel mare, was bred and is raced by Gaynor’s British-based breeding operation Cayton Park Stud Limited.
He won his debut in a Maiden Stakes race for two-year-olds over a mile at Doncaster last year in December by 0,75 lengths in impressive style.
He followed up with a good third in the Gr 1 Kameko Futurity Trophy Stakes over the same course and distance.
He made his seasonal reappearance at Nottingham last Saturday and starting at prohibitive odds of 1/14 in a three horse field ran out a 8,5 length winner in a Novice Stakes event over a mile and 75 yards.
