The Candice Bass-Robinson-trained Gimmethewaltz got the ball rolling for Gimmethegeenlight on Wednesday 26 July, a day in which he had five winners around the country (Picture: Wayne Marks).

 

It escaped the notice of most that Champion Sire Gimmegreenlight had five winners in one day last week, including a Listed winner.

There was a double head on Wednesday last week and progeny of the top stallion had two winners at Hollywoodbets Scottsville and three winners at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.

Gimmethegreenlight’s winners at Hollywoodbets Scottsville were the ultra promising Alec Laird-trained four-year-old colt Royal Guide and the Sean Tarry-trained four-year-old filly Emerald Princess, who won the Listed Off To Stud Stakes.

His winners at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth were the Candice Bass-Robinson-trained two-year-old filly Gimmethewaltz, the Dean Kannemeyr-trained three-year-old gelding Director’s Cut and the Vaughan Marshall-trained five-year-old gelding Gainsford.

The Varfontein Stud-based Champion Stallion will be hard to beat in the Sires Championship this season such is the plethora of top performers he has in training.
