The pictures give a visual indication of Ferraris’s well judged ride on Elegant Life (HKJC)

Luke Ferraris and Lyle Hewitson both had winners at the Happy Valley Wednesday night meeting.

Ferraris scored in the first race on the Caspar Fownes-trained Elegant Life in a class 5 handicap over 1000m. Ferraris managed to get cover in midfield after jumping from draw 9 and he then got the slingshot on the turn and powered past the field to win by 1,25 lengths at odds of 14/1.

That took him to a clear 5th on the jockeys table with 26 wins.

Hewitson won in a class 4 over 1650m on the Danny Shum-trained Win Method at odds of 15/1.

He was handy from the off from draw 5 and after losing his early cover he went up and sat on the quarters of the pacemaker. He joined the leader coming around the final turn and then drove his mount for home all the way down the straight to win by a cosy 1,25 lengths.

Hewitson goes to 21 wins and is in joint 8th position.
