Picture: Trippi, sire of ten individual Grade 1 winners and 63 individual stakes winners of 80 races, had a statue of himself unveiled at Drakenstein Stud’s stallion day yesterday (Chase Liebenberg).
Chase Liebenberg (words and pictures).
The Drakenstein Stallion day yesterday saw breeders from across the country gather at the picturesque Franschhoek based stud farm to view their marvellous stallion line up.
The day was opened with the unveiling of a beautiful new statue – a life sized replica of Trippi.
Trippi was then brought out first as the leading sire on the farm.
He was followed by his first son at stud, Gold Standard.
Grade 1 sires What A Winter, One World and Futura were all incredibly well received by the breeders and media alike.
The covering season starts 1 September.

This well-timed shot of Trippi shows just what a fine job the sculptor did.
