Bavarian Beauty, pictured above winning over 1400m at Turffontein Standside in November (JC Photos), is top of the Gold Rush log with a merit rating of 112 and this Tony Peter-trained Gr 1 winner is rumoured to be traveling to Cape Town on 23 January, although other rumours have him in Cape Town alreqady. It is AHS season on the Highveld, but the last travel ban excluded Turffontein-based horses and hopefully that status quo will still be in place on the 23rd. Interestingly, Piere Strydom rode her in that last start despite her Gr 1 Douglas Whyte Thekwini Stakes-winning pilot Craig Zackey being available on the day, and Striker is duly aboard the Playgate SA-owned Querari filly in the lucrative race.
