The Gr 2 Mike de Kock Ipi Tpmbe Challenge is the headliner at the Big To today and the scratching of Bavarian Beauty has opened the way for the De Kock-trained filly particpant.
Gimethegreenlight filly Gimme A Nother has a fine chance from draw three carrying 53kg under high-flying JP van der Merwe, who was successful in yesterday’s Gr 1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas. Gimme A Nother produced a fine late burst to win the Fillies Mile over this course and distance to remain unbeaten in three starts.
Emirate Gina won the Gr 3 Fillies Mile last year. She comes off a fine run in the Listed Summer Pudding handicap over this course and distance. She gave the year younger winner Silver Sanctuary 7,5kg and was beaten only 0,80 lengths. The latter went on to be touched off by 0,30 lengths in the Gr 1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas. On the downside she has to overcome draw 9.
Feather Boa has a lot of class and should come into her own this season, being a daughter of Flower Alley. In fact, having been a hard-knocking Gr 1 horse as a three-year-old she finally had her first stakes win this season in the Gr 2 Betway Jo’Burg Fillies and Mares Challenge over 1450m. She followed up with a close second in a strong Pinnacle event over 1400m, where she gave the decent winner Savannah Storm 6kg. She will appreciate this step up in trip but does have a tricky draw of seven.
Silver Hills produced a strong finish last time over 1400m to beat Red Bomber and Unzen and the latter went on to win the WSB Grand Heritage. Being by Silvano out of SA Oaks winner Ash Cloud she will relish the step up in trip and will be improving all the while too. She has to be taken seriously from draw two.
Her Sean Tarry-trained stablemate Winter Greeting found no extra last time over 1400m and was beaten 2,75 lengths by Feather Boa. She is now 5kg worse off with the latter, so is up against it, although to be fair she had seemed an exciting prospect before that run ,so can perhaps be forgiven.
Humdinger is 2kg better off with Feather Boa for a 1,60 length beating over 1400m, but she is undoubtedly better over 1400m than a mile.
Marigold Hotel is 1,5kg better off with Feather Boa for a 1,50 length beating in the Spring Challenge, so is not out of it, but she does have a tricky draw of eight.
My Soul Mate has to reverse a 4,45 length beating by Gimme A Nother.
Gimme Another is tipped to beat Feather Boa with Emirate Gina, Silver Hills and Marigold Hotel next best.
