3 Oathkeeper – Made a respiratory noise on debut and is 3kg better off with Shoemaker for a 4.5 length beating.
4 Prime Example – 5,35 lengths to find on Shoemaker and only 3kg better off.
5 Stella Et Clavis – Finished an 8,50 length last on debut over 1000m behind smart Set To Go and will relish step up in trip.
6 The Merciful – Poor 1100m debut but returned with a brush wound and bruising, should appreciate step up in trip.
7 National Star – Moderate run last time over 1400m, needs improvement.
Preview: SHOEMAKER (1) is well regarded and can build on his good debut over a suitable step up in trip. STELLA ET CLAVIS (5) was not disgraced on debut over 1000m when 8,50 lengths behind the smart Set To Go and will relish the step up in trip. BREAKPOINT (2) is a Master Of My Fate half-brother to a Listed-winning middle distance to staying type. OATHKEEPER (3) can improve on his unplaced debut when making a respiratory noise and should enjoy the step in trip. 1 Vars Vicky – Ideally distance suited and can be involved if repeating penultimate C&D start from the same draw.
2 Super Silvano – Brings good Cape Town form but this is a touch oin the sharp side.
3 Donald McDonald – Last win was when handy here over 1600m so is interesting stepped down in trip from a middle draw.
4 Bard Of Avon – Disapppointed last time but step up in trip will suit and should go close but does have a tricky draw.
5 Prince Of Fire – went close in penulatimate in Grade 3 over C&D, fair draw.
6 Willow Express – could earn if reproducing his best over this distance category.
7 Indlamu – bounced back last time and joint best in at weights over suitable trip.
Preview: PRINCE OF FIRE (5) is only half-a-kilogram out with the joint best-weighted and is drawn well over an ideal trip. INDLAMU (7) is joint best in and after bouncing back last time over 1600m is fairly drawn here over an equally suitable trip. BARD OF AVON (4), joint best-weighted, will enjoy the step up in trip and has some class but does have a tricky draw. VARS VICKY (1), joint best-weighted, is distance suited and has class but has a wide draw. DONALD MCDONALD (3) could be dangerous from a handy position. (Selection 5-7-4-1-3)

1 Magic Tycoon – has been consistently there in juvenile sprints and drawn on right side.
2 Maharanee – looks a top class sort in the making and her pace will help her overcome a potentially disadvantageous low draw.
3 None Other – Beat Magic Tycoon by 1,50 lengths when making debut and although 5.5kg worse off if apprentice claims are included she can improve.
4 Queen Of Gaul – slammed a moderate field on debut in a slightly quicker time recorded by Magic Tycoon on the same day despite carry 5kg more.
5 Show Time – half-a-length to find on Magic Tycoon and 3kg better off.
6 Simple Simple – Querari filly out of a Silvano Grade 3-winner over 1600m
7 Strike A Match – three-quarters of a length to find on Show Time and 2kg better off
8 Time For Glory – 1,75 lengths to find on Magic Tycoon.
Preview: MAHARANEE (2) has tgremendous pace and stays on but dies have a potentially disadvantageous low draw so will need to use that pace to overcome it. QUEEN OF GAUL (4) beat a moderate field on debut but slammed them and did it in a good time. STRIKE A MATCH (7) was not disgraced last time in a Grade when carrying weight penalties. SHOW TIME (5) has useful form and trainer knows how to prepare them for stakes sprints. MAGIC TYCOON (1) has a win and three seconds in four and on formlines not far behind the aforementioned. 1 Cool Winter – Good form and enjoys this trip so should be staying on.
2 Karangetang – looked classy in both starts and can remain unbeaten from a nice high draw.
3 Laguna Verde – Made a fine debut and can improve but has the potentially tough number 1 draw.
4 Magic Tattoo – Has 8,50 lengths to find on Karangetang.
5 Set To Go – has won last two in fine style and should handle the step up in trip.
6 Thunderstone – Beat Cool Winter by a length on debut over 800m and not seen since but should relish step up in trip.
7 Union Square – beat Cool Winter by 2,25 lengths on debut when receiving 3kg and time was 0.09 seconds slower than Maharanee but was carrying 3kg less.
8 Var Park – Looks held
9 Miss Cool – capable of a strong late run, drawn on rights side and gets 2,5kg from the boys.
Preview: KARANGETANG (2) is an exciting prospect and is drawn on the right side over the C&D of his last impressive win. SET TO GO (5)should handle the step up in trip and looks progressive. UNION SQUARE (7) won well on debut and can improve. MISS COOL (9) should be running on strongly in the closing stages from a nice high draw. COOL WINTER (1) enjoys this trip and should be staying on from a nice high draw. (Selection 2-5-7-9-1)

1 Gallic Princess – only half-a-kg out with best weighted, better than last run and back to preferred minimum trip but has a potentially tricky low draw.
2 Sweet Future – bad luck with draws and this one is better and has speed and class and should be right there
3 Winter Smoke – has pace and the ability to stay on.
4 May Queen – is inconsistent but if she breaks well is capable of staying in front at a good pace and can hold on.
5 Mill Queen – has been steadily dropping down the ratings and looks held by Kissing Point.
6 Kayla’s Champ – looks held by Sound Of warning on 1160m form.
7 Freed From Desire – best weighted, disappointed last time but was found to be coughing and at best should be right there although has a tough draw.
8 Sound Of Warning – is officially 2.5kg out with best-weighted by classy and can still rise above her current merit rating.
9 Kissing Point – Officially tough task at the weights but comes from Cape Town so could prove better than merit rating, but does have a low draw.
Preview: SOUND OF WARNING (8) is on the up and can prove herself better than her current merit rating. SWEET FUTURE (2) is progressive and has speed and class and a better draw than recent runs. GALLIC PRINCESS (1) is second best weighted and will relish the step back to the minimum trip and her pace can help her overcome a potentially tricky low draw. FREED FROM DESIRE (7) is officially the best weighted but has a low draw and has to bounce back from a below par run when found to be coughing. WINTER SMOKE (3) has pace and the ability to stay on but has the tough number one draw. (Selection – 8-2-1-7-3)

1 Bohica – won the Grade 1 Pongracz Cape Flying Champs over this trip from the front and this is a faster track and he is drawn on the right side.
2 Winter Stories – has bits and pieces of top form although has a tough task with Bohica on formlines.
3 Mr Cobbs – showed he is capable by finishing a neck second in Cape Flying Champs but he would prefer a tougher course and has a low draw.’
4 Real Gone Kid- is better than his Cape Flying one length fifth and interesting runner but draw six could be tricky.
5 Bold Ransom – Drawn on right side and capable of surprising for a flying yard.
6 Master Archie – has some superb form and big runner from a middle draw.
7 Alesian Chief – will have to bounce back from disappointing last two starts.
8 African Rain – beaten just 0,30 lengths in Cape Flying and interesting from a middle draw.
9 Val D’Orcia – won well over 1160m last time and is unexposed at this level over this trip.
10 Hello Winter Hello – 3,60 lengths to find on Bohica from cape Flying but capable and drawn on the right side.
11 True To Life – course and distance suited and capable but does have a tricky low draw.
12 Anna Capri – capable of blitzing a field if breaking well but lowish draw makes it tough.
13 Ecstatic Green- bounced back last time and at her best could earn but has number one draw.
14 Big Burn – is a top class sprinter and is best in at the weights and has a nice draw.
15 Heavens Girl – has plenty of speed and class and could be involved.
Preview: BIG BURN (14) is the best weighted and from a nice high draw she can use her pace to be up there and then use her ability to stay on. MASTER ARCHIE (6) has some eyecatching form and is ideally distannce suited. BOHICA (1) is drawn on the right side and will be attempting to go one better than last year. HEAVEN’S GIRL (15) has speed and class and has a reasonable middle draw. HELLO WINTER HELLO (10) should be staying on after using her good cruising speed from a high draw. 1 Kommetdieding – July and Met winner and well drawn.
2 MK’S Pride – upset Kommetdieding over a mile but untested over this trip and has a stamina doubt although he is a courageous sort.
3 Puerto Manzano – showed his potential when second to MK’S Pride in the Grade 1 wfa HF Oppenheimer mile last time, beating Kommetdieding, and this was always thought to be his best trip.
4 Second Base – has some class, is progressive and is distance suited and drawn in pole.
5 Zillzaal former Summr Cup winner and right up with Second Base on form of last run.
6 Flying Carpet – Summer Cup winner and well drawn and canb continue to progress.
7 Astrix – has a tough draw and probably prefers shorter.
8 Johnny Hero – distane suited but has a tough task on wfa terms but trainer knows how to prepare them for Grade 1s
9 Shango – faces a tough task on wfa terms on recenht form and has a wide draw.
10 Shangani has a tough task at the weights and looks better over further.
11 Savannah Storm- dangerous front-runner but has a tough task at the weights.
12 Classy and progressive and should be staying on strongly.
13 Zeus – SA Derby runner up but this is sharper and tougher and has a tricky draw alsthough is progresssive.
Preview: KOMMETDIEDING (1) is at his best over this trip and is best in deservedly the officially best-weight horse and is s well drawn. SPARKLING WATER (12) is ever improving and although the Empress Club being run a week later than scheduled has done her no favours she is tough and should be running on strongly. FLYING CARPET (6) won the Summer Cup with bottom weight but is progressive and welll drawn. SECOND BASE (4) was runner up last year and should be right there. MK’S PRIDE (2) has a stamina doubt but has tremendous courage and might pull off another suirprise. (Selection 1-12-6-4-2)

1 Pink Tourmaline – Unbeaten in three starts over this trip and drawn in pole.
2 Dindigwe – has fine Zimbabwean form and is distance suited.
3 Opera Glass – progressed continuously but this is tougher than recent races.
4 Rain In Holland – tough and class and should be too good here.
5 Sprinkles – classy and distance suited but has a tricky draw.
6 Perfect Witness – only a quarter length behind Sprinkles in SA Fillies Classic although 3,50 lengths to find on Rain In Holland.
7 Tinder Dry – looks well held in this class.
Preview: RAIN IN HOLLAND (4) should prove too good over an ideal trip although she wil likely have been freshened up and might not be at her very best. PINK TOURMALINE (1) is well drawn and has a fine record over this trip in the strong centre of Cape Town. SPRINKLES (5) has some class and has just 3,25 lengths to make up on Rain In Holland onn 1800m form. DINDIGWE (2) is an interesting Zimbabwean raider. PERFECT WITNESS (6) only has a quarter of a length to find on Sprinkles on 1800m form. (Selection – 4-1-5-2-6)

1 Nebraas – stasy this trip well and could carry topweight to victory from a good draw.
2 Imperial Ruby – dangerous if given an easy lead.
3 African Adventure – this is his right trip and he has come down to a competitive merit rating but needs to bounce back from a run where he suffered unilateral epistaxis.
4 Black Thorn – 2kg better off with Nebraas for a 0,60 length beating over 2850m.
5 Barak – drawn in pole but tough task on formlines.
6 Afraad – tough task at the weights.
7 She’s SA Cracker – tough task at the weights
8 Smiley River – tough task at the weights
Preview: NEBRAAS (1) was probably still not quite at his peak last time so can improve again and beat Black Thorn again. BLACK THORN (4) has a fine chance on paper but has a tough nut to crack. AFRICAN ADVENTURE (3) will be a runner if at his best but he is yet to shine in his comeback from issues. IMPERIAL RUBY (2) is unikely to be given the easy lead that brings out the best in him. 7 Lemme Go – not much to find on Orgetorix
8 Mayenne – respiratory noise in last two but did show ability before that
