Hollywoodbets Scottsville, which might one day be known as Tarrytown, staged its annual Festival Of Speed meeting on Saturday and the meastro of this meeting, Sean Tarry, sent out six runners in the four Gr 1 events for a return of two wins, three seconds and a third.

He increased his number of Gr 1 wins at the Pietermaritzburg venue to 20 courtesy of two sons of Gimmethegreenlight, two-year-old colt Proceed and three-year-old colt Lucky Lad, who won the Gold Medallion and Golden Horse Sprint respectively, both ridden by Richard Fourie.

Lucky Lad is fast gaining legendary status such is his phenomenal finishing speed.

He looked to have no chance entering the last 100m of the 1200m Golden Horse Sprint, but then turned it on like an express train to just get up in a blanket finish.

Proceed also came from off the pace and Tarry scored the exacta in that race as Cosmic Speed finished second..

Tarry and Fourie both had trebles on the day.

The Gr 1 Allan Robertson was won by the Barend Botes-trained Quid Pro Quo, who produced a flying finish under S’Manga Khumalo to nab the Tarry-trained Rodeo Drive. Quid Pro Quo is by the sire Lance, who was ironically trained by Tarry.

In the Gr 1 SA Fillies Sprint the Candice Bass-Robinson-trained Trippi filly October Morn produced a strong late surge to get up under Raymond Danielson, denying the Tarry-trained pair Mrs Browning and Winter Greeting.
