It could be hard going on the poly at Hollywoodbets Greyville today with competitive fields in all eight races.

Exotic bet bankers are few and far between but the Justin Snaith yard, after a cracking weekend on home turf, could come up with the joker in the form of Running Rifles in the fifth.

Running Rifles has been showing consistent form over shorter and is now down in class. From a good draw he should at least be competitive. Interbet have him short at even money in the ante-post market so it may be worth taking a chance.

Others to consider are Lucretius who stayed on first run out of the maidens and did shed his maiden over course and distance but this could prove to be a more suitable trip

The first is a competitive maiden. Fire Lord made marked improvement first run in the soft. The poly could suit from a good draw. Quiz Master has been frustrating but is back on what appears to be his favoured surface and has a good draw. Bristolbeaufighter has been knocking at the door for some time now while Purple Operator has drawn wide but switches back to the poly and has not been far back.

In the second, Triton looked a winner last start before being caught late. He has shown consistent form and should feature prominently. Head Gardener has been disappointing since being an unlucky loser four runs back. The blinkers go on and he could be good value at 8-1 in the ante-post market. Crown Plaza (SCRATCHED) and Sir Theodore are others to watch.

Greensleeves and Maria’s World are the obvious pair in the third. Greensleeves was finishing strongly behind stable companion Crazy Blues last run and that was only her second outing and the step up in trip should suit. Maria’s World has had a few chances on the Highveld and now tries the poly. Her last outing was a work rider’s race with first time blinkers.

The fourth could be tricky but Sequoia has been close up in both starts since her maiden win. Trip will suit and she should have a strong chance in this line-up. And We Danced took on a fair field first up in a handicap and was not far back.

Veteran trainer Pat Lunn sends out Querari’s Cowboy in the sixth. He looks to have picked the right race in spite of his charge having a big weight.  He has been taking on stronger at recent outings and can do much better here. Fists Of Fire tops the boards and has a lot going for him. He and has a better draw. The step up in trip could not be an issue.

The seventh is a tough handicap. Herecomestherain goes well over course and distance and is down in class. He showed up well to much stronger last outing. Proud Master tried further last run. He has a wide draw but should do much better this shorter trip. Majorca Palace has useful form to stronger. He may prefer it a touch shorter but can go close here. The unknown is Origami. He has his first run for a new stable and although this trip is way too short, he has a touch of class and could surprise.

Another difficult race rounds off the afternoon. Arctic Princess comes from and inform stable and has dropped steadily in the handicap and has a top rider abroad. Casa Rosada if 4kg worse off with Arctic Princess could finds it difficult to confirm that form. However, she has earned a cheque in all four races since her maiden win. Royal Kitty will have plenty of supporters and loves the poly. – Andrew Harrison
