Picture: Quid Pro Quo finishes second on her Dubai debut
Quid Pro Quo had her second overseas start and her first start in Dubai tonight (Friday) in the Gr 2 Cape Verdi Stakes over 1600m on the turf and she only just failed.
In a field of six she was drawn in pole and sat in the box seat traveling comfortably under Adrie de Vries.
She was switched outward and made a bold bid in a three-way tussle for the line but it was the Godolphin grey Dubai Beach who found the most to win by a neck with Quid Pro Quo second and another Godolphin runner, Dubai Treasure third.
Quid Pro Quo’s first overseas run was at Deauville in France last month over seven-and-a-half furlongs on the All Weather and it followed a layoff of 315 days.
She was caught way wide in that race and finished tenth, beaten 4,50 lengths.
She should now be cherry ripe for her next start, which will be the Gr 2 Balanchine over 1800m.
She owned by Barry Irwin’s Team Valor International and is trained by the France-based Jerome Reynier.
