Tatts Book 3 Sales Topper Out Of Daughter Of Mahbooba
The Tattersalls October Yearling Book 3 Sale began yesterday (Thursday) and saw a horse with a South African connection topping day one of the three day sale.
A bay colt by Too Darn Hot (Dubawi) out of one-time winner Moohareeba fetched the day’s top price of 130,000 Gns (R3,164,070).
Too Darn Hot was a three-time Group 1 winner and Moohareeba is a daughter of the Mike de Kock-trained Mahbooba, who was the 2009/2010 season’s Equus Champion Two-year-old filly as winner of the Gr 1 Golden Slipper at Clairwood.
Mahbooba also won the Gr 2 Debutante at Scottsville and went on to win the Gr 2 Balanchine in Dubai as well as the Listed UAE Guineas and she also won the Listed Godolphin Stakes at Newmarket.
This is also the family of Slew The Red, a dual Gr 3 winner in France, who stood in South Africa and whose only stakes winner was the Gr 2 Emerald Cup winner Phunyuka.
The sales-topping colt pictured above is from Too Darn Hot’s second crop.

“I’ll be here for Book 4,” she said. “I’ve bought four from Book 4 and they’ve all become stakes horses – everyone else has gone home by then. I have the stamina to stay through to the end, I just hope the horses don’t have as much stamina as I do!”
TAB: Trio Added To Bet Menu For French Racing
TAB MEDIA RELEASE
The benefits of commingling Trifecta pools with host totes (Tabcorp in Australia with the exception of thoroughbred venues in Victoria and South Australia); PMU in France and the UK Tote), as opposed to local pools, are many more Trifecta betting opportunities on races in those three countries and much bigger pools, which in turn will afford TAB customers the chance to win bigger payouts.

Today’s Question

What is the claim to fame of the 2004-born Irish-bred Aaim To Prosper (Val Royal)
Today’s Question Answer
Aaim To Prosper wins Cesarewitch for historic second time
Aaim To Prosper created history by becoming the first horse to win the Betfred Cesarewitch at Newmarket for a second time.
The Brian Meehan-trained eight-year-old (66-1) has not been victorious since he struck in this race in 2010, but cashed in courtesy of a never-say-die ride by Kieren Fallon.
Countrywide Flame (7-1 favourite) looked like collaring Aaim To Prosper, but Meehan’s charge was not for passing and held on by half a length.
A breathless Fallon said: ‘He was off the bridle all the way. He’s tough as nails and he really wanted it.
‘This bit of juice in the ground has helped.
‘I thought we were playing for second but when he picked up, he found a new lease of life.’
Tominator, having his first start for Jonjo O’Neill, also briefly threatened, but crossed the line in third, with Sir Mark Prescott’s Motivado fourth.
Aaim To Prosper drifted off the rail into the path of Countrywide Flame but the runner-up was not making any ground at the line.
Meehan’s top weight broke from stall one and charged along the far rail to provide Fallon with a big winner as the season draws to a close.
Meehan said: ‘Kieren has everyone’s respect. “He’s a wonderful rider and rode him here a couple of weeks ago – he knew what he was getting on and what the horse needed.
‘I’m thrilled with the horse and he’s made a bit of history.
‘He’d been running in Pattern and stakes races but you couldn’t be confident with top weight.
‘He’s 20lb higher than when he last won it, but he did seem in really good shape and looking well at home.
‘Good horses can come back and do it again and I’m delighted.’
