Quote by LOVERACING NZ: “Warren Kennedy, a rider who wasted no time in cementing a position at the top of the countries riding ranks when relocating to New Zealand last season is making an early statement in the 2023/24 season. Bagging a four-timer at Phar Lap Raceway on Friday, adding to his tally of 7 winners last week alone, Warren has moved to within 1 of the top spot on the rider’s premiership. He is a rider who is chasing rides across the land and one trainers are desperate to put on their runners and punters are following with confidence.”

Kennedy has had 149 rides this season for 29 wins, a strike rate of 19,50%.
He is one behind Joe Doyle, who has exactly the same strike rate.
Judpot Having A Good Season As Damsire
Just Be Lekker, a granddaughter of Judpot, will be a leading contender for the R600,000 Cape Racing Sales Ready To Run Stakes on October 21 at Hollywoodbets Durbanville (JC Photos).
The retired Varsfontein stallion Judpot has showed his worth this season.
On Saturday a grandson and a granddaughter of his put in eyecatching performances.
His grandson Main Defender has become the joint highest rated three-year-old male in the land after slamming them by 6,50 lengths in the Gr 2 Betway Jo’Burg Spring Challenge over 1450m.
The Tony Peter-trained Jagessar Limited Pathfork gelding is out of the Judpot mare Alessia, who was a twice winner over 1600m on the Hollywoodbets Greyville poly. Interestingly, she is from the family of the Judpot Gr 1 Golden Horseshoe winner Forest Indigo.
In the previous race on Saturday Judpot’s granddaughter Just Be Lekker finished a fine third in the Gr 2 Betway Jo’Burg Spring Fillies and Mares Challenge, beaten just 1,30 lengths by the hard-knocking Gr 1 performer Feather Boa, whom she faced on weight for age terms.
The Candice Dawson-trained three-year-old William Longsword filly was unlucky too as she hit the rail at the top of the straight and had to to be regathered by Philasande Mxoli.
Her next mission will likely be the Cape Racing Sales Ready To Run Stakes over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on October 21, where the one to beat will likely be the Sean Tarry-trained Tail Of The Comet, who is by Varsfontein’s champion stallion Gimmethegreenlight.
Meanwhile, Just Be Lekker’s half-sister by Captain Of All, the Wendy Whitehead-trained Fort J’Adore, has already reeled off a hattrick this season in just three runs from 1200m to 1400m, two of them on the Hollywoodbets Greyville poly and one on the Hollywoodbets Greyville turf.
Fort J’Adore and Just Be Lekker are both bred by the Ralphs Syndicate and are out of the Judpot mare Polly Wolly Doodle, a four-time winner from 1400m to 1800m.
Just Be Lekker is raced by Ralphs Racing and this progressive sort looks to have a bright future ahead of her.
Judpot as damsire has had seven winners of nine races from 34 runners this season and his earnings per runner of R31,032 is the highest in the country for damsires with more than thirty runners.
The A. P. Indy stallion made a flying start to his stallion career with two Gr 1 winners in his first crop, Along Came Polly and Forest Indigo, and two in his third crop, Coral Fever and Juxtapose.
He had one other Gr 1 winner, Flying Carpet.
In all he had 17 stakes winners and was an underrated stallion.

Inspiral moved into the world’s Top Ten on Thoroughbred Racing Commentary’s exclusive Global Rankings with the fifth G1 triumph of her career in the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.
Having beaten her male counterparts in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville on her previous outing, the Cheveley Park Stud’s four-year-old was sent off odds-on favourite before completing back-to-back G1 successes in consummate style, easing down to score by 3¾ lengths from French G1 winner Mqse De Sevigne.
Inspiral’s victory also represented a career landmark for her jockey Frankie Dettori as he recorded the 500th winner at his home venue in the final season of his illustrious career. Dettori’s first Newmarket winner had come more than 35 years previously when he was a 17-year-old apprentice.
Inspiral moves up to #8 (from #16, ≠132pt) on the Global Rankings, led for the 27th consecutive week by Japanese star Equinox, set to reappear later this month in the Tenno Sho (Autumn) as a prelude to the Japan Cup.
As for Inspiral, her co-trainer John Gosden suggesting either or both of the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and Breeders’ Cup Mile might figure on the immediate agenda for the homebred daughter of Frankel.
“She was in top form today,” said Gosden. “The ground was quick, and she runs on anything bar the heavy of Goodwood. She showed a lot of class today, there is no doubt about it. She travelled well and there was a good pace.
“We missed the Lockinge as she had a muscle spasm problem so by the time we got to Royal Ascot she was only about 80 per cent fit,” he went on. “She was only beaten a neck that day and she got a touch tired in the last half a furlong, but she has been faultless since.
“She had an elaborate piece of work in the Sussex Stakes, but we were clear if she didn’t handle the ground we would wrap up on her and head to Deauville.
“There was a lot more pressure on today as she is a very good filly, and the ground is quicker here than we would expect to find here in the autumn. It is real fast summer ground, but she has run absolutely superbly, and I couldn’t be more pleased.
“She is in the QEII and she could be entered at the Breeders’ Cup but we won’t make a decision for at least a week or two.”
Up To The Mark’s status as that rarest of beasts in the current era – a top-grade US turf performer – is reflected in his move up to #11 (from #57, +217pt) after completing a G1 hat-trick in the Coolmore Turf Mile at Keeneland, where he touched off Godolphin’s Master Of The Seas.
The Breeders’ Cup beckons, though it looks as if the Todd Pletcher-trained four-year-old will step up to a mile and a half for the Turf rather than sticking at a mile.
• Unlike traditional methods of racehorse rankings, TRC Global Rankings are a measure of an individual’s level of achievement over a rolling three-year period, providing a principled hierarchy of the leading horses, jockeys, trainers, owners and sires using statistical learning techniques. Racehorse rankings can be compared to similar exercises in other sports, like the golf’s world rankings or the ATP rankings in tennis.
They are formulated from the last three years of races we consider Group or Graded class all over the world and update automatically each week according to the quality of a horse’s performances and their recency, taking into account how races work out.

Snaith Five-Timer, Van Niekerk Four-Timer, Domeyer, Zackey Doubles
Double Grand Slam led from start-to-finish in the seventh race today over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville and still looked to have plenty in hand when drawing clear to win by 2,25 lengths under Grant van Niekerk. It was only her third career start and she was running off a 91 merit rating in the Class 4 event, so it was a most promising performance. The Varsfontein Stud-bred Vercingetorix filly was originally named Princess Of Vix but after being purchased by Gary Player at the BSA National Yearling Sale for R1 million she had a name change to Double Grand Slam. Legendary golfer Player of course did the career Grand Slam and the senior tour career Grand Slam. Those two achievements might have prompted the filly’s new name. She is owned by Player in partnership with Suzette Viljoene and Dave McLean and she runs in the latter’s colours. There was a double on the day for Mclean’s colours because he owned the fifth race Snaith-trained winner Liketheclappers (Pomodoro) outright. (Picture: Wayne Marks)
Justin Snaith had a halcyon day at Hollywoodbets Durbanville with five winners, four of them brought home by his current first call jockey Grant van Niekerk.
Philippi trainers have reportedly had a torrid time for the bulk of the season due to rain affected tracks.
Snaith’s five-timer might be the signal they are now out of the woods and are yards to follow.
Aldo Domeyer and Craig Zackey both rode doubles at the meeting.
Snaith goes to 19 wins for the season and has achieved that at a strike rate of 10.50%.
Van Niekerk goes to 16 wins at 18.60%.
Domeyer is on 16 wins at 22.86%.
Zackey is on 27 wins at 9.82%.
