1 12H55 – World Sports Betting Maiden Special Weights (F & M)

A Special Weights Maiden to start. ZIPPY OVER has been threatening to leave the maiden ranks, and while bred be most effective over further, the fitting of first-time blinkers should sharpen her enough to make a winning bid over this trip. PRINCESS LOUISA and SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL have shown promise in their 2 starts and are likely to pose a threat. Both are likely to improve for this step-up in trip, though preference is for the latter with the former drawn widest of all. SHORT SHARP SHOCK, DEFINING MOMENT and ISLAND BEAUTY could improve to play a role.

2 13H30 – World Sports Betting Mr 80 Handicap

Tricky. BENJAMIN and QUEEN’S WOOD made their runs together from the rear of the field in a stronger course-and-distance race last time and finished alongside one another. Both are likely to be competitive and there should be little between the pair. Last-start winner SILENT TRIGGER will make his presence felt and could follow up. Stablemate SILENT WAR shed his maiden when last seen and wasn’t doing so out of turn. He has scope to improve after a break so is capable of staking a claim on handicap debut. FAIRE ADVANTAGE won when stepped up to this trip with blinkers on so must also be respected.

3 14H05 – Racing240 Pinnacle Stakes

Quality line-up. Best-weighted BELGARION would’ve needed his last run after a layoff and should strip fitter as a result, though may need another before seen to best effect. RAIN IN NEWMARKET finished ahead of her stable companion in that race and should confirm on 1kg better terms. CAPTAIN OF STEALTH races off a career-high mark after a fluent comeback win and could have even more to offer, so rates the one to beat. VERONICA MARS is 3.5kg better off and should get closer on these terms. ROCKIN’ RINGO and HYDE PARK can play minor roles.

4 14H40 – Racehorse Owners Association Fm 89 Handicap (F & M)

Good race. Well-bred SYMPHONY OF LIGHT may not appear the pick of the Bass-Robinson runners on riding arrangements but she has run well in defeat in similar contests over 1400m recently with the tongue tie fitted. On the evidence of those displays she could be looking for the extra 200m and, as such, may represent value. Stablemates DO ANGELS CRY and DUPLICITY are consistent and likely to be competitive once more. CELTIC NIGHT is better than her last start suggests and could make her presence felt, while FUSILLADE could improve trying the trip. ISLAND TREASURE is no forlorn hope either.

5 15H15 – Cape Racing Fm 73 Handicap (F & M)

Wide open. ALFRED’S GIRL was given a cheeky frontrunning ride when winning a stronger race on the Summer Course, and despite a hefty 7-point penalty, looks well placed to follow up if ridden with similar tactics. The runner-up in that race has since boosted that form in a 3yo feature. DOUBLE CHECK and SONG are likely to get closer on these revised weight terms, while the latter’s half-sister ISLE OF THE WINDS could do better too back over this trip. Last-start maiden winners CRUIZIN CALIFORNIA and HIGH DUDGEON are not without a chance on handicap debut. ENCHANTED CREEK and JUST POWER can earn.

6 15H50 – Tab Perfect Promise Sprint (Listed) (2 Year-old Fillies)

Well-bred CIAO BELLA could not have been more impressive in making a winning debut and is best followed until beaten with the promise of more to come. Unbeaten WHO DO YOU LOVE could also have more offer over the extra 200m after successive 1000m wins and so should make her presence felt. Last-start winners MISS MARGUERITE, BONIKA and PORQUE TE VAS appear those most likely to pick up the pieces should the prinicipals fluff their lines.

7 16H25 – Tab Somerset 1200 (Listed)

Unbeaten HITHEMHARDSUNSHINE has won both starts a tad cosily so should have more to offer raised in class. Debut winner ALPINE CHALLENGE wasn’t disgraced in the East Cape Nursery and should acquit himself competitively again, though a bigger threat is likely to come from fellow first-up scorers CHARLES DICKENS and MICHAEL FARADAY who will both improve with time, experience and over ground. SHIFTING PATH could also take home a cheque.

8 17H00 – Maiden Special Weights

Tricky race to end. NAUSHON was unlucky when inconvenienced at a crucial stage in the finish last time out and could set the record straight, though may need further to be seen to best effect. As such, it could pay to follow improving ROBERT BURNS who is likely to make further progress now upped in distance. Youngster LIGHT SPEED and well-related GLOBAL VISTA are also open to improvement after fair introductions over a shorter trip. BOWLED OVER, STATE OF SHOCK and AEROFORCE could complete the minors.
