The headliner at Hollywoodbets Greyville today was a Pinnacle Stakes event over 1400m for three-year-olds and the Peter Muscutt-trained  Dynasty gelding Imilenzeyokududuma won in good style under Warren Kennedy.

The best weighted runner was AJ’s Captain but he had run two disappointing races this season and was out at 10/1.

The Mike Miller-trained Vercingetorix gelding Party Time was second best in at the weights and started bookmakers favourite at 2/1.

Party Time has always suffered from breathing issues so the yard planned to let him roll from the off.

Furthermore, they had fitted a special bit which had been sent over from the states a few years ago by owner Cecil Baitz for the yard’s useful Listed-winning sprinter Clear Sailing.

The bit has a spoon-shaped piece on it which acts as a tongue tie.

Imilenzeyokududuma was carrying 5.5kg less than the 96 rated Party Time but was officially 4,5kg under sufferance with him off his mere 76 merit rating.

Nevertheless, he was well supported and started 25/11 second favourite on the books and was Tote favourite paying R2.80 a win.

Serino Moodley put the plan of action into place on Party Time sending him to the front from a draw of five out of seven and he kept on rolling in the straight.

Imilenzeyokududuma, who had ended up in position one wide in third place in the running, turned for home with four lengths to find and slowly wore down Party Time, who was under a left-handed whip in the closing stages.

Imilenzeyokududuma caught Party Time with 50 metres to go and won going away by 0,60 lengths, although not before shifting and carrying the beaten pacemaker outward.

A race review did not result in any further action.

Party Time’s stablemate Royal Monarch was beaten two lengths in third.

Imilenzeyokududuma fractured his hind splint bone as a two-year-old which was the reason for his eight month layoff beofore winning his maiden easily over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on February 20.

Kennedy told Hollywood Syndicate racing manager Anthony Delpech afterwards he believed this gelding could be aimed at feature events now.

Muscutt described him as very progressive and the best would be seen of him over 2000m.

Delpech agreed and said because he was a Dynasty, whose progeny tend to need time, the injury had been a blessing in disguise as he was sent to the farm for a holiday.

He thanked Brett Crawford for selecting him at the sales.

He is out of the Australian-bred twice Listed-winning High Chaparral mare Chevauchee and was bought for R400,000 at the 2020 CTS Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

The good looking bay was named by Pirates football club legend and Hollywoodbets brand ambassador Jerry Sikhosana, whose nickname was Imilenzeyokududuma (Legs Of Thunder).

Anton Marcus rode a four-timer at the meeting and Gareth van Zyl scored a hattrick to extend his lead in the KZN Trainers Championships to 18 (48 winners to Muscutt’s 30).
