Cape Racing regrets to announce the postponement of the highly anticipated race meeting at Hollywoodbets Durbanville, initially scheduled for Tuesday, 8 August, to Saturday, 12 August. This decision has been made in response to the civil unrest and violence resulting from the ongoing taxi strike in the region.

The safety and security of all individuals associated with Cape Racing events are paramount to us. Given the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the taxi strike and its potential impact on race day operations, we believe it is essential to prioritise the safety and security of all individuals and horses involved.

Justin Vermaak: Cape Racing Executive Racing and Bloodstock, expressed his thoughts on the decision: “The safety and well-being of our racing community is our top priority. Given the current circumstances surrounding the taxi strike, we believe it is in the best interest of everyone involved to postpone the race meeting until Saturday, 12 August. Cape Racing remains committed to ensuring a secure and enjoyable environment for all participants.”

We understand the disappointment this news may bring to our fans and supporters.

Still, we assure you that Cape Racing remains steadfast in its commitment to providing thrilling racing experiences while prioritising the safety of all involved.
