The former Joe Soma-trained five-times Grade 1-winning entire by Gimmethegreenlight was auctioned in the winner’s enclosure after yesterday’s last race at Kenilworth.
Adams was a part-owner of Got The Greenlight during his racing career and the proud bay was knocked down to him after spirited bidding.
Got The Greenlight’s sire was SA Champion Sire last year and he himself was Equus Champion two-year-old male and Equus Champion three-year-old male and in his three-year-old season was Equus Champion Middle Distance horse.
He was noted for his exhilarating turn of foot and won Grade 1s over distances from 1600m to 2000m.
As a three-year-old he finished a 0,80 length second in the fastest Durban July ever run and the following season he got even closer when finishing a 0,70 length third.
His pedigree runs deep and he is sure to be well received by breeders at stud.
