Gavin Smith landed both of the features at today’s Fairview turf meeting, winning the Listed East Cape Guineas with gelding Safari Blue (What A Winter), ridden by Warren Kennedy, and winning the Listed East Cape Sprint Cup with four-year-old gelding Global Drummer (Global View) (pictured below) ridden by JP van der Merwe.

Global Drummer has now won 15 out of 19 starts.

Smith has had 91 winners in the Eastern Cape this season for stakes earnings of R5,831,487.50 and Alan Greeff is second on the East Cape log with 84 winners and R5,304,350.00 in stakes earnings.
