One of the most awaited lots on the BSA National Yearling Sale, lot 407, a colt by Fire Away (War Front) out of Halfway To Heaven (Jet Master), which makes him a half-brother to multiple Grade 1 winners Rainbow Bridge (Ideal World), Hawwaam (Silvano) and Golden Ducat (Philanthropist), was knocked down to Form Bloodstock with Candice Bass Robinson for R1,6-million, consigned by Wilgerbosdrift Stud.

The highest priced lot on day 2 was lot 378, a Gimmethegreenlight colt out of a Captain Al one-time winner who is a half-sister to top sire Master Of My Fate (Jet Master) and to Justthewayyouare (Fort Wood), who is the dam of WSB Triple Crown hero Malmoos (Captain Al). Greg Bortz bought the Varsfontein Stud-bred colt for R2 million.

Bortz was comfortably the biggest buyer acting as an individual on the sale and spent R9,705,000 for 13 lots with only the three high profile bloodstock agents Form Bloodstock, Vermaak Equine and JT Freeman, spending more.
