Trainer Jacques Strydom and his apprentice son Kyle combined for an easy win in the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery with the exciting youngster Chere For Me (Coup De Grace).

The progeny of Coupe De Grace (Tapit) are apparently exceptional in training on sand tracks but have hitherto been disappointing on the turf and this is in fact the American-bred sire’s first stakes winner.

Kyle, who is the reigning national apprentice champion, rode a treble at the meeting to go to 27 winners for the season, third on the national apprentice log behind Rachel Venniker on 51 and Kaidan Brewer on 28.

Chere For Me won by 2,25 lengths to record her second career win.

The Riverton Stud-bred filly is owned by Messrs Vishal Mungroo, Nad Moodley, Trishen Moodley, Kevin Naidoo & Shephard Shumba, Messrs J V A Strydom, K P Shooter, Mrs M O Strydom & Money Talks.

Jacques has now had 17 wins this season.

He is in sixth place on the East Cape Trainers log.
