The Zietsman Oosthuizen-trained eight-year-old Elusive Fort gelding El Romiachi probably set something of a world record today on the Fairview poly.

It is unusual but not rare for a horse to have had 100 races.

However, in the space of 28 days, El Romiachi won his 100th start, won his 101st start and today won his 102nd start – and that must be a unique hattrick.

It is actually the second hattrick of El Romiachi’s career.

When first moving from the Highveld to the East Cape he was trained by Alan Greeff and won his second, third and fourth starts for Greeff and the middle leg of that hattrick was also on November 29 (2021), so he enjoys this time of the year.

El Romiachi made it ten career wins today.

Zietsman owns the Riethuiskraal Stud-bred gelding in partnership with George Chrisochos.
