Former Summerveld Grade 1-winning trainer Dylan Cunha made it five wins from just twelve runs in the UK this year when four-year-old gelding Gold Medal (Olympic Glory) produced an electrifying burst from the back under Harry Burns to win going away by 0,75 lengths in a six furlong class 5 handicap at Lingfield on Wednesday evening.

The Quest Syndicate bought Gold Medal for Cunha and he has now won both of his starts since moving from the yard of former top jockey and now trainer Richard Hughes.

Cunha only has a small string, but it is slowly expanding through some astute purchases, some of them made by Dylan’s father Luis.

Gold Medal started at odds of 9/4 today and looks capable of progressing further.

Expressionless, who produced an incredible finish to win under Kyle Strydom at Epsom on Tuesday, is due to run again at Haydock on Saturday where he will be attempting a third win in three starts under Strydom.

Cunha’s statistics must surely have been noticed and hopefully he will win some more support.

He certainly deserves it because through a tough opening six months in the U.K. his optimism never waned and he still, for example, produces a newsy, weekly blog which reached no. 59 this Monday.
