1 11:40 AM – Independent Media Maiden Juvenile Plate

DAILY NEWS 2000 day – the racing is carded to kick off at 11:40 remember to get your bets on timeously. Trainer Justin Snaith looks to hold a strong hand on the day. RAPIDASH jumped slowly on debut but recovered to finish in the money. He is bred to go a bit further but could nevertheless make a winning local debut. BEDTIME STORY moved up the likely winner before the frontrunner rallied and came back to win. He will have gained valuable experience from the encounter and could get the job done this time. STRAWBERRY STINGER and DOWN BY THE RIVER are some of many who can improve.

Top Tip: BEDTIME STORY (3)
Watch out for: GIVE US A SMILE (5)

2 12:15 PM – Backchat Maiden Plate (F & M)
KNOCKOUT made her debut in a difficult juvenile plate and even though showing signs of greenness still ran well. She will have good improvement to come. Another who should come on from a fair debut is KINGDOM OF GOLD who ranged up to the frontrunners in the closing stages. She is bred to go further but has drawn well and may fight it out. BITCOIN BABY has the advantage of having raced around the bend and was only just beaten by a Highveld raider in her last race after getting into a duel. VALLI GAL didn’t do badly in her debut and has drawn well. She could be the dark horse.

Top Tip: BITCOIN BABY (5)
Watch out for: KINGDOM OF GOLD (4)

3 12:50 PM – Daily News Milk Fund Fm 98 Handicap (F & M)
BEVIES DELIGHT ran a cracker in the Grade 3 Dennis Drier Poinsettia Stakes and is overdue for a win. But the handicapper was also impressed and has hiked her merit rating. She has drawn in pole position. GET IN THE Q was third in a race in which second-placed horse Isivunguvungu then came out to win the Grade 1 Computaform Sprint. She could also frank the form line. BIG EYED GIRL suddenly came out to win impressively and having drawn well on her local debut needs to be taken seriously. All of ANCIENT EPIC, WARSHIP, AMARANDI, SABATINI and SWEET SYMPHONY could take home prizes.

Top Tip: BIG EYED GIRL (2)
Watch out for: BEVIES DELIGHT (1)

4 1:25 PM – KZN Wildlife Conditional Progress
R6M P6 Pool expected! Rafeef colt UNION SQUARE was in need of his last race which came after just under a half year off the track. It wasn’t a bad race considering and he could bounce back to winning ways as he is best weighted. LORD WILLIAM raised his game to win the World Sports Betting Sledgehammer over further. He needs to be taken seriously again. IMPOSING is also holding form. He improved on his previous form over this distance, showing he has matured. NOBLE CITY may have been too far back in his last race. He has the potential and deserves another go over this longer distance.

Top Tip: NOBLE CITY (4)
Watch out for: LORD WILLIAM (3)

5 1:58 PM – Lonsdale Stirrup Cup (Grade 3) (Handicap)
This could be a stepping stone for ONE WAY TRAFFIC to have a go in the Hollywoodbets Durban July. He ran a promising race in the World Sports Betting 1900 but has drawn wide again. Stablemate SALVATOR MUNDI is a capable stayer. He could threaten if ready after a rest. This is a happy hunting ground for SHANGO who is bidding to complete back-to-back wins in the race. He needs to return to top form. Three-year-olds GOOD COUNCIL, FUTURE PEARL and OTTO LUYKEN need to be taken seriously. All three have shown potential. SENSO UNICO, SEA MASTER and QUEUE WING rate dark horses – go wide in exotic bets.

Top Tip: FUTURE PEARL (4)
Watch out for: REX UNION (8)

6 2:33 PM – Woolavington 2000 (Grade 1) (Fillies & Mares)
A big field for the Woolavington 2000 having become a weight-for-age contest. RAIN IN HOLLAND sets the standard in terms of her overall record but she is joint best weighted with last year’s winner SILVER DARLING. She has draw No 1 and after some sparkling Highveld efforts could make it two from two at this venue. SILVER DARLING has drawn widest and will have her work cut out along with SAARTJIE who was most unlucky in the World Sports Betting Fillies Guineas. NONE OTHER and TIME FLIES, like the above mentioned, are entries for the Hollywoodbets Durban July. MARINA and PEACH DAIQUIRI can earn.

Top Tip: MARINA (8)
Watch out for: RAIN IN HOLLAND (1)

7 3:12 PM – Daily News 2000 (Grade 1) (3 Year-Olds)
Thrilling renewal of the Daily News 2000. SEE IT AGAIN had to settle for second best to star miler Charles Dickens but did have all of DAVE THE KING, COUSIN CASEY, ANFIELDS ROCKET and EAST COAST behind him in the World Sports Betting Guineas. But the Hollywoodbets Durban July favourite will be looking for a good pace. COUSIN CASEY could relish the step up in distance now matured and from draw No 1 could stretch away at the right time. WITHOUT QUESTION wasn’t far off SEE IT AGAIN in the Grade 1 Splashout Cape Derby and along with blinkered ANFIELDS ROCKET and SHOEMAKER can make improvement.

Top Tip: WITHOUT QUESTION (3)
Watch out for: COUSIN CASEY (1)

8 3:50 PM – Lifestyle Fm 96 Handicap (F & M)
Wide-open fillies and mares top division. HIERKOMMIEBOKKIE impressed in her last outing in the Western Cape. She is getting better as she matures and could make a successful start to her KwaZulu-Natal campaign. SASHAY AWAY has earned a high merit rating and as a result is top weight but could be up to the task after finding her last race too short. LET’S NOT LINGER turned in a powerful finish after over-racing last time. If she doesn’t mind the drop in distance she could be right there. MACARA is another who has a strong finish. PRINCESS PHILIPPA and HOLLYWOODBOUND can threaten.

Top Tip: HIERKOMMIEBOKKIE (3)
Watch out for: SASHAY AWAY (5)

9 4:25 PM – Daily News Subscriptions Fm 74 Handicap (F & M)
SHANTA’S PRIDE has a history of making respiratory noises but did run a very decent race on the poly last time. She could confirm the improvement on turf. PALM BREEZE is knocking hard at the door. She has the pace to overcome her wide draw and rates the form choice. DOUBLE DREAM has finally returned to the track and trip at which she has recorded her only win. She has dropped in ratings and could prove to be dangerous. MAQUETTE has much in her favour and could take advantage. She has only won over 1000m but her pedigree suggests she will get the trip. IMBEWU is long overdue.

Top Tip: DANCING DORA (1)

Watch out for: MAQUETTE (2)
