The first log for the 2022 CTS Farm Sale race has been published. The 1200m race, scheduled for 15 June at Kenilworth, will be contested for a stake of R400,000, doubling its previous purse.

The log is topped by the Glen Kotzen trained colt Grinkov, a son of Twice Over, who won his Maiden over 1200m at Greyville on 4 April, and gave the impression of more to come.

In second is We’re Jamming, a smart son of Duke Of Marmalade who has been rested since his win in the Cape of Good Hope Nursery over 1200m in February, when Grinkov was behind him, in third.

Trompie (Captain Of All), third on the table, was all the rage before his easy debut over 1000m. He was, however, soundly beaten by We’re Jamming and Grinkov in the Nursery.

Steyn has another runner in the Top 4 – she is fourth-placed Epsom Girl (Pomodoro), impressive winner of the G3 Cape Fillies Nursery over 1200m.

That both this year’s Cape Nursery winners are graduates of the 2021 CTS Farm Sale again reflects the quality of the auction’s annual offerings. This year’s CTS Farm Yearling Sale will be held on 19 June at De Grendel Wine Estate, and graduates will qualify for three sales races to be staged around the country in 2023.
