The horse responsible for one of the most watched horseracing videos in history, Pakistan Star (Shamardal), has arrived to join the like of Silent Witness at the Living Legends retirement home in Australia.
Pakistan Star made a debut that had the racing world amazed as he came from a hopeless tailed off position to win. The video replay soon went viral.
He won two Group 1s in Hong Kong but became more famous for his habit of deciding to stop during his races, which he did a number of times.
Pakistan Star stops for the first time
If he was not going to be retired at the end of last year it would have been forced upon him anyway.
He pulled himself up in his second start in the UAE in December last year and the authorities said they would no longer accept nominations from him, considering he had arrived in the country with a reputation for doing that.

Pakistan Star has made an immediate impact at Living Legends.
His strong chemistry with people was demonstrated when Ben, a regular Wednesday visitor, walked up to Pakistan Star’s fence. Ben is on the autism spectrum and nonverbal.
