Part-owner Ashwin Reynolds shows his gratitude to Cala Muretta after she had won the Gr 2 World Pool With Gold Circle Debutante (Candiese Lenferna).
Listed Devon Air Stakes winner Secret Identity is being rested on the farm and will be returning to her Milnerton yard at the end of this week to join her Gr 2 World Pool With Gold Circle Debutante-winning contemporary Cala Muretta.
Trainer Michelle Rix had only had the ex-Ashley Fortune-trained Varsfontein Stud-bred Gimmethegreenlight filly Cala Muretta for four weeks when she won the Debutante over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
She said, “I thought she would run a place. Whatever we had asked her to do she gave it to us. She’s quite a game little filly, there is a lot to look forward to and she will go further.”
The yard is going to start Cala Muretta off in the Gr 3 Diana Stakes over 1400m on September 30 at Hollywoodbets Durbanville.
Secret Identity had no luck with draws in Durban and after running on superbly to win the Devon Air from draw 14 she ran on well for third from draw eleven in the BSA Cup before running unplaced from draw 12 in the Gr 1 Douglas Whyte Stakes over 1600m.
The Ridgemont-bred Canford Cliffs filly should also get some ground.
Michelle said, “I think she will go 2000m eventually, but at this stage a mile to 1800m. We’ll aim her for the Cape Fillies Guineas, being very hopeful. She’s a very nice filly, she’s just got to grow into herself now. It’s a long season , so we’ll ease her into the summer season.”
Among the yard’s three-year-colt prospects she mentioned Elusive Winter, a Klawervlei Stud-bred Westward Bloodstock Ltd-owned Captain Of All colt, who won over 1000m on debut before being unplaced in the Gr 3 Winter Nursery.
Secret Identity is owned by Ashwin Reynolds and he part-owns Cala Mureta in partnership with Dylan Chinsammy.
Reynolds became a household name as owner of July winner Kommetdieding, who will be beginning his stud duties soon on the farm where he was born and brought up, Klawervlei Stud.
