Ridgemont’s Triple Crown winning sire Malmoos has come up with a real star in his first crop in the form of unbeaten filly Marchland.
The latter made it five wins from five starts when running out a good winner of the Listed Konica Minolta SA ROA Stakes (1600m) at TAB Fairview on Sunday.
Trained by Kelly Mitchley, Marchland had won all four of her starts at two, with her juvenile campaign culminating in a facile win in the G2 Douglas Whyte Thekwini Stakes (1600m).
Making her three-year-old debut on Sunday, the daughter of Malmoos made no mistakes in the R300 000 contest.
Under Muzi Yeni, the only rider to have ridden Marchland thus far, Marchland hit the front full of running and stayed on well to claim Sunday’s Listed race by three-parts of a length.
Bred by Lammerskraal Stud, the unbeaten star, who is owned by Mervin Govender, has won four black type races already and looks on course for a big season in 2026-2027.
Out of the Western Winter mare Marcheline, Marchland was a R450 000 buy from the 2025 Premier Yearling Sale.
Her Captain Al sired sire Malmoos was South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire in 2025-2026.
From the immediate family of high-class sires Erik Dubois and Master Of My Fate, Malmoos has five lots on offer at the October Two Year Old Sale.
