Mocha Blend should be a big runner in the Listed Betway Summer Pudding Handicap (Candiese Lenferna Photography)
Frank Robinson sends three raiders to Turffontein on Sunday for the Betway Victory Moon Stakes meeting and is bullish about the chances of Mocha Blend in the Listed Summer Pudding Handicap, while he is quietly confident of good runs from Shoot The Rapids and Field Marshall in the Victory Moon and back at home he believes Cats Pajamas has a big chance at the weights in a Conditions Plate event over 1200m.
He said, “Mocha Blend will go very close. She is flying at home. The fittest I have ever had her is going to be Sunday. She comes in with a proper preparation. In the winter season I didn’t gallop her, I went easy on her, and it was not because she was lame or anything, she was still just soft and she hasn’t got the greatest conformation as she turns in slightly, but this time she has prepped beautifully.”
Mocha Blend has a plum draw of two.
She comes off a narrow second on the Hollywoodbets Greyville poly over 1600m in which she gave the four-year-old gelding Rollo The Viking 6,5kg and was beaten only 0,30 lengths.
Frank said about the Victory Moon runners, “There is not much between Shoot The Rapids and Madison Valley, so I thought I would send Shoot The Rapids up to try and get two runners in the Summer Cup, but I see he is 17th on the log so it looks like he is in the field. Both are very well and Field Marshall with 51kg on his back is a big runner. I would swing slightly towards Shoot The Rapids as the yard elect but at the weights it makes it very close. I think Muzi will suit Field Marshall at 51kg, if he can place him he is a big runner, nobody has seen the best of him yet.”
Cats Pajamas faces both Gladatorian and Dave The King in a Conditions Plate over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Friday evening and Frank said, “I think Cats Pajamas is better on a bend anyway and from the wide draw he will be able to tuck in. He has got them at the weights, I don’t think Gladatorian will be able to give Cats Pajamas 10kg in what will just be a preparation run for him.”
If the 4kg apprentice claim of Dezahn Louw is included Cats Pajamas will recive 10kg from Gladatorian, which is a lot considering Cats Pajamas is rated just six points less than him.
