Maine Chance Farms would have been thrilled with the victory of Gostam in the Gr 3 Renate und Albrecht Woeste over 1400m at “Zukunfts-Rennen” at Baden-Baden today (Wednesday).
Gostam is by Saxon Warrior out of Oasis Dream mare Goiania, who is a full sister to the Maine Chance Farms-based broodmare Granja, a one-time winner who has a yearling colt by Maine Chance’s superstar stallion Vercingetorix.
This €55,000 race is apparently Germany’s most important two-year-old race and Gostam led from start to finish under Eduardo Pedroza.
2YO colt Gostam is trained by Andreas Wohler for owners Darius Racing & Michael Motschmann.
He was bred by Gestut Farhof, which is owned by Maine Chance Farms’ owner, Andreas Jacobs.
Granja is by Gr 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup winner Black Sam Bellamy, a late Gestut Farhof-based full-brother to Galileo.
Her Vercingetorix yearling colt thus has a fine pedigree and will attract a lot of interest if entered at next year’s Race Coast Sales March Yearling Sale Day 1.
