The Graham Motion-trained Hollywood Racing-owned What A Winter gelding Isivunguvungu has been putting in some sparkling fractions in preparation for the US$100,000 Wolf Hill Stakes over five-and-half furlongs on July 19 on the turf at Monmouth Park.
Isivunguvungu worked four furlongs in 52.80 seconds on Thursday this week.
His last start in Dubai was disappointing in the Gr 1 Al Quoz Sprint over 1200m.
Christophe Soumillon rode and the plan to preserve him for a late charge over a trip further than his optimum 1000m did not work and he found nothing late on.
He like to go forward and be in front or or just behind the leading line.
The Narrow Creek Stud-bred six-year-old won two Gr 1s in South Africa, the Computaform Sprint over 1000m and the Mercury Sprint over 1200m and in the USA he has had three starts, winning the Da Hoss Stakes over five-and-a-half furlongs at Colonial Downs, finishing an unlucky seventh at the Breeders Cup Turf Sprint at Del Mar and scoring a strong-finishing close up third in the Turf Dash over five furlongs at Tampa Bay Downs back in February before going to Dubai.
